The ASUS PRIME B760M-A WIFI D4, model 90MB1CX0-M1EAY0, is a micro ATX motherboard built around the Intel B760 chipset and LGA1700 processor socket. Part of the ASUS Prime series, it supports 12th and 13th Generation Intel Core processors as well as compatible Pentium Gold and Celeron processors, with capacity for one CPU. Its design combines digital power management, extensive cooling hardware, DDR4 memory support, PCIe 4.0 expansion, dual M.2 storage, wired and wireless networking, onboard display connectivity and eight-channel HD Audio in a 24.4 cm by 24.4 cm format. Onboard graphics output is available when a processor with the required graphics capability is installed.
The board is designed to give compatible Intel processors a stable power platform while providing tuning options for different operating requirements. ASUS DIGI+ VRM technology provides digital control of the voltage-regulator module, allowing voltage droop to be managed in real time while frequency and power-efficiency parameters can be adjusted automatically. CPU settings can also be fine-tuned with stability and performance in mind. The proprietary ProCool power connection uses an 8-pin connector to deliver 12-volt power directly to the processor, with solid connector pins designed to carry more current than hollow-pin alternatives. The motherboard also incorporates a standard 24-pin main power connection.
Energy management is supported through a Power Saving function with several configurable options. Users can apply a CPU power limit, reduce Aura lighting output and select a fan profile intended to lower power consumption. The Power Saver plan integrated into Microsoft Windows can also be enabled. This functionality complements the board's intelligent tuning capabilities by allowing power behaviour to be adjusted according to the system's requirements.
Cooling is addressed across the motherboard with dedicated VRM, M.2 and PCH heatsinks together with hybrid fan headers. The VRM heatsinks and associated thermal pads are designed to improve the movement of heat away from the MOSFETs and chokes. For M.2 storage, the dedicated heatsink helps control the thermal conditions that can otherwise lead to throttling during sustained data transfers. It is secured using captive screws, with the removable captive design reducing the possibility of screws being dropped or misplaced when the heatsink is taken off.
The physical board construction also contributes to thermal management and performance tuning. A six-layer PCB provides multiple layers through which heat management around important components can be optimised, helping create additional operating headroom when running CPUs beyond their standard speeds. ASUS Stack Cool 3+ adds 2-ounce copper layers that conduct heat away from critical components, helping them remain within suitable operating temperatures while providing further headroom for operation beyond stock CPU speeds.
Four 288-pin DIMM slots provide support for as much as 128 GB of unbuffered, non-ECC DDR4 memory using a dual-channel memory architecture. Standard and overclocked memory frequencies are supported from DDR4-2133 through to DDR4-5333 O.C., and Intel Extreme Memory Profiles are supported. ASUS OptiMem II is used to refine the motherboard's memory signal layout by mapping signal paths across different PCB layers, shortening routes and reducing the number of vias while introducing shielding areas that reduce crosstalk. These trace, via and ground-layer optimisations are intended to preserve signal integrity, improve access to available memory bandwidth and support memory overclocking.
Storage expansion includes four SATA-600 connections and two M.2 Key M sockets accepting 2242, 2260 and 2280 devices. Both M.2 connections use PCIe 4.0 and can provide transfer rates of up to 64 Gbps, making them suitable for operating-system and application storage where the available interface performance can contribute to faster boot and application loading. SATA storage supports RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5 and RAID 10, while Intel Rapid Storage Technology is also supported.
PCIe expansion is provided through three PCIe 4.0 x16-format slots, comprising one PCIe 4.0 x16 connection, a second x16-format slot operating in x4 mode and another x16-format slot operating in x1 mode. The PCIe 4.0 implementation is designed for compatible 12th and 13th Generation Intel processor platforms and provides PCIe 4.0 connectivity for graphics cards.
A broad selection of external and internal USB connectivity is provided for systems using multiple peripherals. The rear connections include two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports and four USB 2.0 ports. Internal headers provide connectivity for four USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, five USB 2.0 ports and one front-panel USB-C connection using USB 3.2 Gen 1. The USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 interface supports transfer rates of up to 5 Gbps, allowing a compatible case to provide convenient front-facing USB-C access.
Network connectivity combines Realtek 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet with Wi-Fi 6 wireless networking supporting IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax standards and Bluetooth 5.2. The Realtek 2.5Gb Ethernet implementation is designed to reduce CPU overhead while delivering high TCP and UDP throughput for data transfers. Two aerial connections are provided at the rear, and an ASUS Wi-Fi moving aerial is supplied with the motherboard.
Display connectivity consists of one DisplayPort output compliant with DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI outputs, with use of the motherboard's onboard graphics connections requiring an appropriate CPU. Audio is provided by an eight-channel HD Audio implementation compliant with the High Definition Audio standard. Rear audio connectivity includes mini-jack connections along with a microphone mini-jack and an audio line-in mini-jack, while the motherboard's audio-related features include jack retasking and audio jack detection. An internal audio header and SPDIF-out header provide additional integration options.
Additional rear connectivity includes a PS/2 keyboard and mouse connection, while internal headers include serial, parallel and SPI connections. The board also supports addressable Gen 2 lighting headers and an Aura RGB header for RGB LED strips. ASUS Aura Sync allows compatible lighting hardware to be synchronised, with ASUS AURA Creator included among the supplied software tools.
The motherboard uses an AMI BIOS with UEFI functionality and includes ASUS EZ Flash 3 and ASUS UEFI BIOS EZ Mode. Its sleep and wake capabilities include Wake on LAN and wake on PME, while Preboot eXecution Environment support is also provided. Other platform and DIY features include Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0, Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0, ASUS 5X Protection III, LANGuard, overvoltage protection, ASUS SafeSlot Core+, ASUS Stainless Steel Back I/O, Q-DIMM, Q-LED Core, Q-Slot, ASUS EZ DIY, a DIY Friendly Design and CrashFree BIOS 3. The motherboard is also compatible with Windows 11.
The package includes the ASUS PRIME B760M-A WIFI D4 motherboard, an I/O shield, an ASUS Wi-Fi moving aerial, one M.2 rubber package, an M.2 screw package and two Serial ATA cables. Included software comprises Armoury Crate, ASUS AURA Creator, ASUS Fan Xpert 2+, ASUS AI Suite III, PC Cleaner, ASUS CPU-Z, MyAsus, a 60-day trial of Norton 360 Deluxe and WinRAR.
