The ASUS PRIME B760-PLUS D4 is an ATX motherboard built around the Intel B760 chipset and LGA1700 processor socket. Part of the ASUS Prime series, it is designed for 12th and 13th Generation Intel Core processors as well as compatible Intel Pentium Gold and Celeron processors. Its combination of a robust power design, extensive cooling provisions and intelligent system-tuning controls gives PC builders a broad range of options for configuring and optimising a system. The board supports a single processor and provides onboard display connectivity when used with a CPU that supplies integrated graphics.
DDR4 memory support is provided through four 288-pin DIMM slots with a maximum supported capacity of 128 GB. The motherboard uses a dual-channel memory architecture and supports unbuffered, non-ECC memory along with Intel Extreme Memory Profiles (XMP). Supported memory speeds range from DDR4-2133 through DDR4-3200 at standard listed speeds, while overclocked configurations extend through 3333 MHz, 3400 MHz, 3466 MHz, 3600 MHz, 3733 MHz, 4000 MHz, 4266 MHz, 4400 MHz, 4600 MHz, 4800 MHz, 5000 MHz and up to 5066 MHz. ASUS OptiMem technology is incorporated into the board design, with memory signal paths carefully arranged across PCB layers to shorten routing and reduce the number of vias, while shielding areas help minimise crosstalk. These design measures are intended to preserve signal integrity and improve memory stability while allowing compatible Intel processors effective access to available memory bandwidth.
Expansion capability includes a PCIe 5.0 x16 slot, giving the motherboard an interface with twice the data-transfer capability of PCIe 4.0 and providing support for demanding add-in hardware. PCIe 5.0 also incorporates electrical improvements intended to maintain signal integrity, uses backward-compatible CEM connectors for add-in cards and remains compatible with earlier generations of PCI Express. Additional expansion is available through one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot operating in x4 mode and two PCIe 3.0 x1 slots. The motherboard also includes an M.2 Key E socket.
Storage can be configured through three PCIe 4.0 M.2 connections and four SATA-600 ports. The three M.2 slots can deliver transfer rates of up to 64 Gbps, making them suitable for operating-system and application storage where the available PCIe 4.0 bandwidth can support faster boot and loading operations. One M.2 Key M socket accepts 2242, 2260, 2280 and 22110 devices, while two additional Key M sockets support 2242, 2260 and 2280 sizes. An M.2 heatsink is provided to help control temperatures and reduce the possibility of storage throttling during sustained data transfers. Its captive-screw arrangement is designed to make removal more convenient while reducing the chance of screws being dropped or misplaced.
The four SATA-600 connections support RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 10 and RAID 5, and Intel Rapid Storage Technology is included among the motherboard's RAID capabilities. This combination of SATA and M.2 connectivity gives a system builder access to both conventional Serial ATA storage and PCIe 4.0 M.2 devices within the same platform.
Connectivity is extensive across both the rear interfaces and internal headers. The rear USB Type-C connection supports USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 with transfer speeds reaching 20 Gbps. Rear connectivity also includes two USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 port and two USB 2.0 ports. For a compatible case front panel, an internal USB-C 3.2 Gen 1 header supports transfers up to 5 Gbps, while additional internal connectivity comprises two USB 3.2 Gen 1 headers and four USB 2.0 connections via headers.
USB4 functionality is supported through the motherboard's Thunderbolt header, which is USB4 compliant. The supported Thunderbolt arrangement also provides daisy-chain functionality for multi-screen configurations and can support as many as two displays at 4K resolution. Display connectivity on the motherboard itself consists of DisplayPort, HDMI and VGA outputs, with DisplayPort compliance specified as version 1.4. Use of the motherboard's onboard display outputs requires a processor with the necessary integrated graphics capability.
Wired networking is handled through a 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet interface, providing a higher-bandwidth LAN connection than standard Gigabit Ethernet. ASUS LANGuard is also included among the board's hardware features. Audio is provided by an eight-channel High Definition Audio implementation, with rear mini-jack connections for audio line-in, microphone input and audio line-out. Audio functionality also includes jack-detection and jack-retasking technology, while internal connections include an audio header and an S/PDIF output header.
Power delivery incorporates ASUS DIGI+ VRM digital control. The Digi+ voltage-regulator module provides real-time management of voltage droop and can automatically adjust switching frequency and power-efficiency parameters. It also gives users controls for fine-tuning CPU behaviour with stability and performance in mind. The ASUS ProCool connection strengthens the link between the motherboard and power supply through an 8-pin connection that supplies 12-volt power directly to the processor. Solid connector pins are used so the connection can carry more current than a hollow-pin design. Main motherboard power is supplied through a 24-pin connector alongside the 8-pin ATX12V processor power connection.
Thermal management is supported by dedicated VRM heatsinks, an M.2 heatsink, a PCH heatsink and hybrid fan headers. The VRM heatsinks work with thermal pads to improve the transfer of heat away from the MOSFETs. A Water Pump Header is also included, extending the board's support for cooling configurations.
ASUS provides power-management controls intended to help reduce system energy use. The Power Saving function offers several configurable options, including applying a CPU power limit, dimming Aura lighting and selecting a power-saving fan profile. Users can also enable the Power Saver plan integrated into Microsoft Windows, allowing motherboard-level settings and operating-system power management to be used as part of the overall energy-saving configuration.
System configuration is handled through an AMI UEFI BIOS with ASUS UEFI BIOS EZ Mode and ASUS EZ Flash 3. EZ Mode presents important system settings and statistics in an accessible interface and incorporates guided setup tools, drag-and-drop controls and one-click application of key settings to simplify initial configuration. For users who want more detailed control, the UEFI Advanced mode provides access to deeper tuning functions. Its integrated search capability assists with locating settings, while the available advanced controls permit more precise adjustment of system behaviour and performance.
The motherboard also supports Wake on LAN and wake on PME, together with Preboot eXecution Environment functionality. BIOS and DIY-oriented ASUS features include CrashFree BIOS 3 and ASUS EZ DIY, while ASUS Q-Design technologies include Q-DIMM, Q-LED Core and Q-Slot. Additional protection and construction features comprise ASUS 5X Protection III, overvoltage protection, ASUS SafeSlot Core+, ASUS Stainless Steel Back I/O and the ProCool Power Connector. Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 and Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0 are also listed among the supported hardware features, and the motherboard is compatible with Windows 11.
Lighting integration is provided through ASUS Aura Sync, onboard addressable Gen 2 headers and an Aura RGB header for RGB LED strips. Compatible lighting hardware can be synchronised through the Aura Sync ecosystem. The included software package further supports system configuration and management with Armoury Crate, ASUS AURA Creator, ASUS Fan Xpert 2+, ASUS AI Suite III, PC Cleaner and ASUS CPU-Z. Norton 360 Deluxe is supplied as a 60-day trial, and WinRAR is also included.
The ASUS PRIME B760-PLUS D4 measures 30.5 cm wide by 24.4 cm deep in its ATX format. The package includes the motherboard itself, two Serial ATA cables, an I/O shield, one M.2 rubber package and two M.2 SSD screw packages, together with the supplied software.
